I'm so glad to see you're back writing on this blog, its one of my favorites. :) This blog reminds me how incredibly blessed I've always been, but especially in the amazing way I was raised...by my mom and grandmother. On any given Sunday at my Nana's house, it looked like a United Nations gathering... and the holidays...we celebrated everything with everyone...it was amazing and it never occurred to me that wasn't the way the rest of the world lived. One of my deepest wishes is that my children and all children can inherit a world that isn't much different than dinner at my Nana's house...just as much friendship, laughter, love, and most definitely delicious foods. :)

I truly believe that every race can have it all; the ability to retain culture and individual traits and still be able to be a part of something even greater. It is a terribly fine line, but I dare say one worth balancing upon. The cultures and individuals that make up America, make up this world are glorious when standing alone, but standing side by side with each other...it is a moment that can take one's breath away. Let us hope the energy and passion that has recently been evoked in all of us, only burns brighter and stronger as time goes on.

Both the other editor and myself were there for the Pannell atrocity. We were in his grade in HS. We couldn't understand it either. Then for a judge to say those 4 officers were in the right for shooting and killing that young man... I still don't understand that.

Why the police feel as though it is okay to shoot young black men I'll never know. I'm scared for my little boy, who will grow up to be a young black man, and hopefully an old one too...

I just don't understand...I read these articles, hear these atrocities and can't fathom why anyone would care what the color of someone's skin was...and that they would care in such a dark way as to harm another human for that reason...it's such a tragic waste and so depressing...killing and harming for the color of another's skin is so ignorant, so wrong...we are defined not by our exteriors but by our actions and how we live...

Absolutely wonderful writing, my sentiments almost exactly...Except, I'm a mom and my spouse is the one in the military. :) I too am troubled by the treatment Senator Obama is receiving from the media. When did Americans shrink from truth, especially the glaring and painful variety? Aren't we the home of the brave? Truth can hurt, it can make us question why we did nothing...why we sat idly by while hardship and sorrow ran rampant... but, its never too late to take a stand and do what is right. Senator Obama reminds us to live brave, face the truth, and reminds us of the better parts of our selves.

Honestly, I just want to say to all people to stop talking in racism and any kind of discrimination. I realized that I can't consider one without looking at how they look. But I deeply try to treat all same. I know I can't be fallen in love with black women, but it doesn't mean that I hate them or I dislike them. It doesn't matter how black women should be in front of the white man. The matter is how we, the human, treat all same. Because we are all the same, creature of His.
