This week Judge Mathis of TV fame and a Detroit native, denied claims that he is helping with Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick’s legal defense fund. He told the Detroit Free Press via fax that Mayor Kilpatrick contacted him on Wednesday asking for his support, and at that time he advised the Mayor that he could not support him. Here’s some quotes from his statement:

 “This is the same type of deceit that has plunged our city into a deep crisis,”

Mathis wen’t on to say:

“Not only do I not support him, but I recommend he resign so the city can heal and move forward.”
