According to reports coming out of Detroit today, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has announced that she will in fact bring criminal charges against Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and his former Chief of Staff Christine Beatty. According to the Prosecutor, an independent investigation has found that the Mayor and his former aide did in fact lie under oath in January regarding a sexual affair between the two. Update: About an hour after the Wayne County Prosecutor made her announcement, Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick held his own press conference. He stated that the process surrounding his investigation was “flawed” and that “I look forward to complete exoneration”. He also stated again that he would not leave office.
